You’re A
Time Optimist

UNREALISTIC WITH GIVEN TIME AND RESOURCES

About the Time Optimist:

You believe in your team - a little too much. You are overly optimistic about what you can accomplish with your staff and resources.
This creates wear and tear on your team as they struggle to get it all done.

What You See:

  • So many ideas, minimal results because they don’t have the capacity to complete it all.

  • Your team focuses on your most exciting idea of the day, rather than the biggest priority.

  • The confusion your team experiences shows potential to turn into burnout.

How you got here:

You are brilliant at developing new ideas and concepts, and your enthusiasm for accomplishing them drives your team’s energy. Your team loves to help action ideas and bring them to life. However, if everything is urgent, nothing gets done well. There’s simply not enough time. Your team can’t decipher between when you are just brainstorming and not even fully committed to the ideas you are sharing versus sharing a new action item.

Your Playbook:

First steps:

Practice restraint.

  • Recognize how seriously your team takes your ideas, and share them judiciously.

  • Before sharing an idea, ask yourself if this is part of a brainstorm or something ready to be executed. If unsure, wait.

  • If you do slip up and overshare, be open with your team and let them know the idea can be filed away as a “future thought” and should not overtake current priorities.
